Butterflies and flowers

May 9th, 2011

Hi Everyone!

How are you all, hope you are keeping well and enjoying the weather. Had such a lovely few weeks off sunshine, managed to do some gardening. I find it so relaxing plodding around the garden.

Thought I share this butterfly and flower card design with everyone.  This is a design using Meiflower metal butterflies and sequin butterflies.

Chic general greetings card

I have used a C6 white cardstock for the basecard, covered the top half of the card with a pretty floral scrapbooking paper and bottom half with light blue card.

The layered die cut flowers are from Bazzil Basics Paper Flower Pot Collection. I used a black and a white flower, the white flower inked in lilac.

I have managed to colour in the butterfly in blue using sakura pens. I have done this technique on Create and Craft. Click on the word `Butterfly’ if you would like to see the demonstration.

Layered sequin butterflies

I have also added the small sequin butterflies to go with this design. To give the layered look, stick three sequin butterflies back to back. I have added a wide lilac organza ribbon to the bottom half of the card to finish off the card.

Butterflies and Flowers

January 11th, 2011

Hi Everyone

It is really cold at the moment, just feel like hibernating until the first signs of spring appear. I love seeing daffodil buds appear on the road sides, it so nice to see beds of daffodils, tulips and blossom trees  it reallys brightens up my day.

Well since there are no flowers around at the moment in the garden. I thought I put a butterfly and flower card on my blog with the colours of summer, hope this will brighten up a dreary day for you.

This is a made on a c6 aperature card.

Birthday card made using a aperture card with acetate

Aperture card with a piece of acetate to create a window

Inside of the card, I have stuck a pretty pink, lime green and white stripy paper. Around the aperture I have stuck double sided tape with fairy dust on top to create a glitzy look. I have stuck a piece of pink flower ribbon across the bottom of the card and stuck some self adhesive pink gems on the the ribbon to create abit more texture.

I have used three sequin butterflies folded in half, stuck back to back to create a 3-dimensional butterfly and stuck the sequin butterfly onto the acetate. Gorgeous way of using the sequin butterflies. I have seen this technique of folding butterfly before in a craft magazine but using butterfly peel offs  instead.

To finish off the card, I have stuck some matching sequin flowers onto the acetate with a small self adhesive gem in the centre of the flower. I love using this colour combination, it always reminds me of summer……. Bring on summer!

Boutique style butterfly

December 16th, 2010

This butterfly birthday card  is a design i made for Create and Craft Shopping Channel. It is part of the butterfly kit which went down a storm. I came up with this design whilst i was doing a craft show in Belfast.

Silver decorative filigree metal butterlfly coloured in black

Black, silver and white theme for butterfly birthday card.

I have used a C6  white card as the base card. I have covered the front of the card with a gorgeous embossed soft sheen silver card which I bought from payper box at NEC craft show in November.

Metal butterfly from Meiflower

Coloured butterfly mounted in a scalloped circle

I have used a  silver decorative filigree metal butterlfly from Meiflowercrafts which I coloured in with a black pro marker. Give the butterfly two coats to give a deeper colour, set aside to dry.  Mount the butterfly in a white circle and black scalloped circle. I have stuck a black gem to enhance the butterfly.

I have invested in  two sets of Spellbinders Nestibilles, i bought a circle set and scalloped circle set. I have a fiskars cutter and plastic circle template but the blade on my cutter gets blunt very quick. The replacement  blades for the Fiskars cutter are not cheap, so i have bought the circle nestibilles. I think they are such a good investment especially if you use them all the time.

Flower sequin mounted onto a foam pad

On either side of the framed butterfly, adhere a flower sequin using a foam pad. Stick a self adhesive gem in the centre of the sequin flower.

Matt and layer a strip of black and white card and choose a black sentiment to match the theme. Stick black and white polka dot ribbon on top and bottom part of the card to finish off the card.

Birthday Card Using Fabric Orchid Head

September 6th, 2010

I was asked last week to make a birthday card for my husbands best friend’s sister. It was quite a last minute request, so i decided to use my favourite flower…. orchids.

Elegant and Simple Orchid Card for Any Occasion

It is such a pretty flower to use, stunning and elegant. The Orchid creates a beautiful card which looks very expensive to produce. I teamed the orchid up with some fluffy plum coloured feathers to give it a wow factor.

The orchid is mounted onto matted and layered plum and white card. I chose a beautiful floral pink paper to give the card an expensive look. To finish off the card, fairy dust has been added onto the top and bottom of the card.

Silver Sequined Butterfly Card

August 12th, 2010

I love black and white theme. It looks so sophisticated it makes an ideal black and white birthday card. My friend Claire from Touch of Craft was selling blocks of patterned paper. She had a beautiful black and white set which included floral vellum.

Claire used this gorgeous floral vellum in one of her cards which made me buy the black and white pattern paper block. The backing paper behind the padded sequin butterfly is also a vellum from the block. I wanted to carry the floral theme on with the white floral grosgrain ribbon mounted onto black organza ribbon.

I highlighted the vellum with glue and shimmer dust. Got this idea from Claire so all credit to her.
