Floral tribute to my Dear Nana

August 22nd, 2011

Hi Everyone

My Nana sadly passed away on the 5th August at the age of 89. She was a wonderful, strong independent lady who did helped with a lot of charitable causes even in her 80′s. She use to love my arrangements which I made for her in fresh and artificial, so I really wanted to make her flowers for her funeral. We decided to send two arrangements from our family. This is the first time I made a funeral wreath, it was quite overwhelming making it for someone you love dearly.

Funeral wreaths and funeral crosses

Yellow and white colour scheme chosen for the cross

I chose to use large white gerberas, white Singapore orchids, white stocks, white carnations, yellow roses and green chrysanthemums.

This is my second attempt at the wreath, the first design did not work where I tried to group the flowers together. I think the gerberas were too big.

I thought I also show a picture of my working progress. Most of the work was done on the kitchen floor because it rained outside where I wanted to work on the decking. All the green foilage was cut from my garden.

Tulip Flower Arrangement

May 8th, 2010

Yipeee! Its springtime, its so nice to see daffodils and tulips. It really brightens up my day!  So i decided to use tulips in my flower arranging but  make it a contemporary design. All the ladies from my flower arranging group know by now i like using pinks in my designs.

I had some pink twigs at home and a nice wicker basket. Most of my ideas come out of the blue when i see something lying around!

I used the pink twigs to support the tulips and a layer of hebe to cover the floral foam.

Thursdays Flower Arranging Class

March 18th, 2010

Hooray . . . its Thursday, i look forward to today because its flower arranging day. I go to a small flower arranging class near where i live.

Its a really nice and usually relaxing class. A lot of the ladies that go there have been going for years, they are all a nice bunch.

Me.... Concentration mode!

Its nice to take a break from card making to do some other creative activities.

Anyway this week was supposed to be easy, come up with a simple idea (or that’s what i thought) but it was completely the opposite. My teacher – Linda was laughing at me because i looked sooo stressed out. Lol!
