My Mums 60th Birthday

October 21st, 2010

It was my mums 60th birthday yesderday. Took my mum out shopping and went for a lovely chinese meal in China Town.

I always make her a handmade birthday card, i think she expects it from me now. Made it yesderday morning, just been so busy with other stuff that i only had time to make it in the morning but i knew what design i wanted to make. Planned it in advance.

Cute Birthday card for my mum

I bought this Piggy a while ago because she loves cute stuff. Used a scalloped card for the design since it is such a big card. Love using scalloped shapes at the moment, they are sooo fab!

Mounted the ‘Happy Birthday’ onto pink card to go with the piggy, matted and layered onto a white scallop. Around the edge of the circle, flat back pink self adhesive pearls are added to create a real nice effect. Wanted to make it look like a cake. Yum… yum!

My mum real liked the card. My sister also likes making cards and gave her a lovely blinged up birthday card.

This is my mum and dad looking abit full after a delicious chinese meal.

My dad ordered a fresh cream cake. It was such a sweet gesture. I love eating desserts, my brother decided to take some pictures of me munching the yummy cake.

Don't think i can get my mouth open anymore!

Mmmmm, is there any more cake??

Birthday Card Using Fabric Orchid Head

September 6th, 2010

I was asked last week to make a birthday card for my husbands best friend’s sister. It was quite a last minute request, so i decided to use my favourite flower…. orchids.

Elegant and Simple Orchid Card for Any Occasion

It is such a pretty flower to use, stunning and elegant. The Orchid creates a beautiful card which looks very expensive to produce. I teamed the orchid up with some fluffy plum coloured feathers to give it a wow factor.

The orchid is mounted onto matted and layered plum and white card. I chose a beautiful floral pink paper to give the card an expensive look. To finish off the card, fairy dust has been added onto the top and bottom of the card.

Cupcakes Inspired Scalloped Doggy Birthday Card !!

August 26th, 2010

I love cupcake colours at the moment, pink and light blue. Very yummy scrummy! I had my nieces and nephew around  for a sleep over and they made some yummy cupcakes.

We had a nice time making the cupcakes, i told them what to do whilst i tidied and washed up their mess.  They finished by adding strawberry flavoured icing, jelly tots, hundreds and thousands.

Ta - Dah !! The Finished Cupcakes On My Floral Tray

When the kids left and the house was back to normality. I had the idea in my head for a doggy card using the cupcake colours as inspiration and dog embelishments.

Scalloped Dog Card In Pink And Blue Cupcake Colours

The pink velvet dog reminds me of the pink icing on the cupcakes.

Velvet Dog Reminds Me of Yummy Icing

I added a light pink floral grosgrain ribbon to go with the pink and blue scheme, added a pink gem in the middle of the flower ribbon reminded me of the sugary jelly tots. I then layered all this on top of light blue and white polka dot paper.

A matching tag is added at a angle with white ‘Happy Birthday’ text to go with the colour scheme.

Birthday Card With Hat

A Birthday Card for My Mum!

The hat embellishment that i have used on the card contrasts perfectly with the paper.

Also, along the side of the card i have layered two different types of Ribbon: lilac organza ribbon & pink flower grosgrain.

With the Flower Grosgrain Ribbon i have placed silver sticky gems in the middle for the centre of the flowers.

Fingers crossed, lets just hope she likes it!

Girly Birthday Card

May 10th, 2010

Morning guys!!  Spent last weekend crafting away…..Wanted to make a cute girly card for an upcoming birthday.

I bought some floral vellum ages ago from a craft show…. and it was in my treasured collection just collecting dust, lol. Had this idea with this pretty girl embellishment to use it as the main focal point on the card.
